The “Milchhalle” – your self-service restaurant in Wilsede
Food and drink Heidjer style – regional, affordable, delicious
If you want to take a break after a hike or a horse-drawn carriage ride through the Lueneburg Heath nature reserve in the heath village of Wilsede, you can do so at the Milchhalle in Wilsede: Our team awaits you with many delicious and affordable dishes.
Let us spoil you in our self-service restaurant with economically priced dishes such as our hearty pea soup, tasty Heidschnuckenbratwurst with potato salad, Heidschnuckenfrikadelle or products from the “Wilseder Rote” – the VNP’s robust breed of cattle used for landscape conservation.
Cool drinks will quench your thirst, tea and coffee specialities or home-baked buckwheat and apple pie as well as our buckwheat sour cream cake invite you to linger.
By the way, the cake recipes all originate from our house and are very popular with our guests. The buckwheat is grown in our fields around the VNP landscape conservation farm Tütsberg. It is harvested there and taken to the Bardowick windmill for flour milling. Afterwards, it is brought back to us and can be used for our delicious cakes. You simply have to try it!

Wilsede – The heath village
In the heart of the nature reserve lies the old heath village of Wilsede. You could be forgiven for thinking that time has stood still here. With its thatched farmhouses, tall oaks and historic cobbled streets, the village gives an impression of how quiet rural life was 150 years ago. A visit to this little village is a “must” for every heath guest.
Nevertheless, we would like to ask you to be considerate: Wilsede is a living village! Many houses are privately owned and are therefore not open to visitors.
Wilsede can only be reached on foot, by bicycle or by horse-drawn carriage. Please park your car in one of the designated parking spaces on the periphery of the nature reserve.
Horse carriages to Wilsede
Private car traffic is not permitted in the nature reserve. You can find operators of horse-drawn carriage rides to Wilsede here.
Heath museum “Dat ole Huus”
The heath museum in an old farmhouse gives you a true-to-life insight into life and work on a heath farm around 1850.
