The Association
The Verein Naturschutzpark e.V. (abbreviated „VNP“) is one of the oldest private nature conservation organisations in Germany.
It was established in Munich in 1909 with the target of large-scale nature conservation. Following the model of American National Parks the association wants to protect and to take care of impressive landscapes, especially the Lüneburg Heathland and its typical flora and fauna being worth to be preserved.
The Foundation
The foundation “VNP Stiftung Naturschutzpark Lüneburger Heide” was evolved from the association “Verein Naturschutzpark Lüneburger Heide e.V.” (VNP) in 2002.
All assets without restriction as well as all rights and duties were assigned to the foundation by January 1st, 2008.
The foundation’s targets are identical to the association’s based on the charter of the foundation. The overlap of management staff of the foundation and the association helps to guarantee the association’s idea of safeguarding the Lüneburg Heath eternally. Therefore, the abbreviation VNP stands for the foundation as well as the association.
The foundation VNP Stiftung Naturschutzpark Lüneburger Heide is a foundation under civil law with legal capacity. The purpose of the foundation is the sponsorship of the tasks of the non-profit association Verein Naturschutzpark e.V.
